May News
Mr. Testa's Class
We hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful May weather. It is amazing to see all the flowers and trees blooming everywhere you turn. We will be going on a field trip to Sturbridge Village on Thursday, May 22. Be on the look out for details.
We have been learning about some interesting things lately in Religion. We have just finished our study about the sacrament of Confirmation. It is a sacrament of initiation into the faith along with Baptism and Eucharist. This coincides well with the feast of Pentecost this Sunday, May 11. Later this month we will be examining the fourth through sixth commandments, which focus on God's call to respect all life.
In Math, we are finishing our study on fractions this month. We will soon be adding and subtracting fractions. By the end of the month, we will be starting decimals.
In Science, we have just begun our weather unit. We will be taking a closer look at changing weather, climate, and predicting weather.
In Social Studies, we are finishing our study of the mid-west. We will soon be starting our new unit on the southwest this month.
During our reading time, we continue to read interesting stories in our anthologies along with our individual guided reading books. The groups are reading the following books: By the Shores of Silver Lake, Bridge to Terabithia, Maniac Magee, Stormy: Misty's Foal.
During Writer's Workshop, we are writing adventure stories along with letters to our adopted apostolates. We also work on grammar every day during our morning work time.
We hope everyone has a blessed Pentecost and enjoys the remainder of spring.
