May News

The month of May will find the kindergarteners really working on blending sounds to make words, as well as breaking words down into beginning, middle and end sounds. We will be concentrating more frequently on copying, writing and illustrating sentences to share with our classmates.

Our math program will take us into the exciting world of addition. We will be learning new vocabulary phrases such as: in all, how many, add, is equal to and plus.

Religion class will find us focusing on Jesus' love for us and the importance of us living our lives in a way that shows we return His love. This will lead to the children to explore and discuss the celebration of mass as a wonderful way to do this. We will also discuss varying ways to show our gratitude to God for so many blessings. Thank you God, for our school which allows us to do this!!!!

KINDERGARTEN GENERAL INFORMATION

GRADING OF DAILY WORK:

Check = Work completed
Check Plus= Work completed correctly
Check Minus= Work completed, but needs more practice
Check Plus Plus= Extremely Awesome Work, completed

LITERACY KITS: These kits will be distributed four times a year, once during each quarter. Your child will be given approximately two weeks to work with this kit. After these two weeks the kit must be returned to school on the assigned date, with the project ready to present to their classmates. The assigned project is included in the kit on an index card, which MUST BE RETURNED WITH THE PROJECT in order for the student to obtain credit for work completed.

SKILLS TO WORK ON AT HOME: Cold weather is approaching. Please send your child to school dressed appropriately for the weather. They will be going out every day. It would also be helpful if you could start preparing your child to learn to zip their own jackets, and put on their own outer clothing. Thanks!!!!
